Training with injuries

We’ve all been there.  Some pain or injury that prevents us from doing the things we love: running, hiking, lifting, etc…. We “rest” in the hopes that it will just go away.  It may go away for a bit, but after a while, the pain comes right back. It is one of the most frustrating cycles.

Don’t get me wrong there are some things that can be healed by rest, but MUCH orthopedic (joint, muscle, etc) pain can be fixed by moving well.  Maybe you have developed a strength imbalance, or maybe developed an inefficient movement pattern. These are SOME of things that can lead to orthopedic pain, that WILL NOT be fixed by rest alone. In fact, in these cases rest may even make some of these things WORSE!  So what can you do?

Here at OPEX North Scottsdale, we assess ALL of our new clients to identify those things that are either currently causing problems OR things that may develop into problems down the road.

Then we build a program to work towards eliminating those factors.

Injuries happen, but that doesn’t mean that you have to give up the things that you love.

FIRST - Be evaluated by a medical professional to get a diagnosis + treatment/rehab plan.

SECOND - Work with someone who understands that diagnosis AND your goals that can build a program to work with you where you are and get you back to where you want to be.
